Elderly clergyman robbed, murdered


An elderly clergyman was on Friday December 3rd  brutally slain in front of the Barnett Street Police Station by a brazen gunman who robbed him of his pouch.

The clergyman, Bishop Wilbert Peynado, 81, of the Montego Bay Church of Jesus Christ, resided at Gold Street in Granville.

According to the police, the bishop was attacked as he walked along the busy Barnett Street. He was said to be heading towards a bakery when he was attacked by a man, armed with a handgun. The churchman was shot in his head after he resisted the gunman's attempt to grab his black pouch.

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) held its 42nd Meeting under the Chairmanship of Professor E Nigel Harris, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies at the Beaches Resort and Spa on Providenciales Island, Turks and Caicos Islands on 3rd December 2010.  The Council wishes to record its appreciation to the Government and people of Turks and Caicos Islands for hosting the meeting and their warm hospitality.

St. George’s Grenada – Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas has called on all Grenadians to participate in public consultations to review Grenada’s draft Constitution.

“This is not a partisan or political issue. This is about Grenada and we must ensure we put in place a constitution that we all can be proud of,” the Prime Minister told the launch of the public consultation process Friday morning at the Grenada Trade Center.

He called on all organizations, community groups and individuals to use the opportunity of the consultative process to influence the new constitution which “should reflect what we perceive as the important tenets of our tri-island state”.

The two main political parties contesting the upcoming elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines, have signed a code of conduct, pledging respect for each other and to behave responsibly.

The signing comes in the wake of instances of election violence and the defacing of campaign material.

Jamaican patties accepted in St Lucia

Industry and Commerce Minister, Karl Samuda, has expressed disappointment at having to intervene once again to prevent Jamaican patties being denied entry into another Caribbean country.

Plane carrying 2 crashes off Bahamas

Bahamian searchers recovered the body of a man who was one of two people aboard a small plane that crashed yesterday into the Atlantic Ocean off the most populated island in the Bahamas.
